Indoor Wedding Venues in Marin County: A Weather-Safe Guide
From intimate chapels to a 1,200-guest clubhouse — indoor Marin venues built to handle whatever this winter’s storms bring.
Indoor wedding venues in Marin County are worth a serious look this year. Forecasters are expecting a strong El Niño winter, with above-normal rainfall odds for the Bay Area running highest from January through March. If you’re planning a late fall through early spring wedding, staying close to home in a venue that doesn’t depend on the weather cooperating is a genuinely practical choice — not just a fallback.
This list is organized by guest count, from the most intimate chapels up to a full-scale ballroom, so you can jump straight to the size that fits your wedding.
🏛️ The Short Version
- Small & Intimate (under ~100 guests): Montgomery Chapel, St. Hilary’s Chapel, China Cabin, Pelican Inn
- Mid-Size, Indoor + Outdoor (50–300 guests): Community Congregational Church, Marin Art & Garden Center, Unity in Marin, Corinthian Yacht Club, Malibu Farm Tiburon, The Spinnaker, Cavallo Point
- Large-Scale (up to 1,200 guests): The Clubhouse at Peacock Gap
Small & Intimate
Montgomery Chapel (San Anselmo)
A historic 1892 chapel on the University of Redlands’ Marin Campus, fully restored in 1995, with a graceful rotunda and stained-glass windows. Seats up to 90 in fixed theater-style seating, with adjoining Montague Hall available for a small reception.
St. Hilary’s Chapel (Tiburon)
A Carpenter Gothic chapel from 1888 on a hillside overlooking Belvedere and the Bay. Holds up to 100–110 guests indoors. Ceremony only — food, beverage, and receptions aren’t permitted on site, and parking is limited, so a guest shuttle is often used.
China Cabin (Belvedere)
A small, ornate Victorian interior with gold-leaf details and etched glass, overlooking the Bay. One of the more niche, intimate options on this list — best suited to a very small guest count.
Pelican Inn (Muir Beach)
A Tudor-style English inn with a glass conservatory for receptions and the Snug Room — a fireplace-warmed space that’s genuinely known as a favorite for rainy-day weddings. Guest count typically runs 40–70.
Mid-Size, With Indoor + Outdoor Flexibility
Community Congregational Church (Tiburon)
An inclusive church with panoramic views of the Bay, Golden Gate, and Mt. Tam. The indoor Seminar Room has a fireplace and garden/bay views, alongside a Sanctuary and an Open Air Chapel for outdoor ceremonies when weather allows.
Marin Art & Garden Center (Ross)
An 11-acre property with both indoor and outdoor spaces — the Gazebo and Fountain Pond areas work well outdoors, with indoor rooms available as a weather backup.
Unity in Marin (Novato)
A Spanish Colonial-style chapel with clerestory windows and a balcony, plus an enclosed courtyard with a fountain. Capacity runs roughly 50–300 depending on configuration.
Corinthian Yacht Club (Tiburon)
The entire third floor is available for a private event, with panoramic views of San Francisco Bay, Angel Island, Alcatraz, and the skyline from inside a Colonial Revival building.
Malibu Farm Tiburon
A waterfront setting with both indoor and outdoor space directly on the water.
The Spinnaker (Sausalito)
Floor-to-ceiling glass walls over the water, with panoramic views of the SF skyline, Angel Island, and Belvedere. The banquet facility holds up to 170 seated or 220 for a reception — genuinely indoor, but doesn’t feel closed in.
Cavallo Point (Sausalito)
The Lodge at the Golden Gate, with both indoor and outdoor event spaces surrounded by national parkland.
Large-Scale
The Clubhouse at Peacock Gap (San Rafael)
The largest event space in the North Bay, with genuine flexibility across guest counts: the intimate Clubroom holds up to 35, while the full ballroom and salons scale up to 1,200 seated, plus a rooftop terrace and event lawn for outdoor options. Floor-to-ceiling windows over the golf course and hills, a stone fireplace, and outside catering is welcomed rather than restricted to a preferred list.
📋 A Note on Officiants
All of these are event venues, not officiant-inclusive packages — every one of them rents you the space and leaves the ceremony itself up to you to arrange. I officiate weddings at any of these Marin venues, indoor or out.
Planning Around This Winter’s Weather?
No decisions to make, no consultation required — I bring a ready-to-go ceremony to any of these venues, with personal vows available on request.
